The Warlus language is very complex. Only not really. It's basically like the Japanese writing system, only with different combinations of "smeh" and "snyggys" instead of smybols. For the uninformed, "snyggys" is pronounced like "SNI-geez." Each phrase's tone is indicated with a little smiley:
A normal tone is indicated by an apostrophe (') if it isn't the last phrase in a sentence. Each of these tone elements proceed the phrase it is modifying. For example, "I am happy" in Warlus would be "smeh ' snyggys >:C." The apostrophe after the "smeh" indicates it is in a normal tone, and a normal-toned "smeh" means "I," or in general, anything used to indicate first person (like "me"). The sentence "you anger me" is another good example of when to use the normal tone indicator. In Warlus, that sentence is "snyggys ' smeh >:C smeh." Since the last "smeh," saying "me" is at the end of the sentence (or rather, no phrase follows it), there's no need to indicate that it is in a normal tone. The "snyggys" at the beginning of the sentence is in a normal tone, but there is a phrase that proceeds it, so to separate the two and indicate a normal tone in the former phrase, the apostrophe is placed there. Speaking the language presents a conflict: differentiating between different phrases. This is where the word "neh" comes in. It is primarily used to indicate a change when there are two consecutive phrases with the same tone. In the sentence "smeh ' snyggys smeh smeh ' smeh ;) smeh," there are two consecutive normal-toned phrases: smeh, and snyggys smeh smeh. The apostrophe would be spoken as "neh" to provide flow between the two and to separate the two phrases. You can use "neh" to provide flow between any two phrases, but you'll especially want to put them between phrases spoken in the same tone. If you need to indicate something is the opposite of what you're saying, you use a Sean Connery inflection in addition to the tone you use. In writing, this means you add a beard onto the tone using > or <. If you are doing this to a normal tone, which normally doesn't have a tone face indicator, you use |: or :| and add a beard. For example, to say "Your mom is insane," you would say "Snyggys ' smeh smeh smeh smeh <|: snyggys snyggys snyggys (: snyggys snyggys snyggys snyggys <O:" since there are no Warlus phrases to say "mom" or "insane." |
